Internet

Service Overview

At present, our total bandwidth connecting to the Internet is 17Gbps. Internet traffic within Macao region will route through Local Internet link, which greatly improves the communication with local Internet service providers and local Internet users. Most users access to Internet through two local ISPs with different broadband paths. In addition, there is a local leased line connection to SAFP (Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau).

Each computer connecting to Internet needs an IP address. ICTO is responsible for the IP address assignment, and the Domain Name registration for the University owned Internet Servers.

ICTO also set up security appliances like firewall, secure email gateway, etc. to safeguard our network. If you want to set up Internet services for public access, you need to fulfill several requirements. For detail, please contact ICTO Help Desk.

Besides, if residents need high-speed Wi-Fi (Residential Broadband) or land-line phone services. Residents could apply for additional service from local service provider at their own expenses.
